Steve with the best fish of the day - 3lb 10oz
With the reservoir season opening on March 1st, a few friends and myself took the time out for some flyfishing afloat.
The first drift of the day resulted in a hooked and lost fish for Steve, and a pull for me, so it was looking promising. The second drift started with a bang, with Steve into another fish and myself hooking up while trying to net Steve's fish. After a few minutes, Steve dropped his fish and we realised that there were 2 fish on the end of my line - both were landed and went around 1lb 8oz each.
Another couple of drifts close to the shore, resulted in a few more fish and a lot more takes, until the bank anglers turned up and pushed us further out into deeper water and subsequently no fish for a few hours.
We did manage to get back into the fish during the last hour or so, and finished off the day with a cracking fish of 3lb 10oz, which put up an excellent account for itself (or was Steve milking it?!).
Decent day afloat and a solid start to the new season.
