Report, Garnffrwd Trout Fishery, Carmarthenshire

Date - 27/04/08

Steve Jones and I ventured to Garnffrwd for a few hours leisurly flyfishing for an hour or two. A £10 catch and release ticket for both of us and we were fishing with the emphasis on light and small on floating lines. On his second cast Steve was into a fish on a hares ear, and as I made my way to get the net, another trout took my stick fly, and the race was on to see who would land their fish first! Both fish were landed, released and were in the 2lb range.

Several more fish followed to, olive cdc buzzer, shipmans buzzer, and one on a light coloured dry fly. The fish seemed to be feeding hard but were quite selective on the size of fly rather than pattern, with anything fished in the top couple of inches producing fish. I did manage to land a fish of around 4lb which gave a cracking account of itself.

Total tally was 8 fish in just under 3 hours.
